Biography

Charles Frederick Masters was born 18th February 1837 at Brownsover, Warwickshire, England, the eldest child of Charles Masters (1809–1866) and Martha Williams Masters (1814–1896). The family left England in July 1845 and emigrated to South Australia aboard the Templar, a three-masted ship carrying 109 passengers, arriving at Port Adelaide on 24th November 1845.

He died in Adelaide on 30th November 1845, aged 8 — six days after the family came ashore — and was buried at West Terrace Cemetery, Adelaide. He was the first of the family to die in the new colony, and the first burial in what became the Masters family's South Australian story.
