Life Summary
Ellen Jane Liebich was born about 1865 in the Yongala/Mannanarie district of South Australia, the daughter of Gustav Johann Liebich and Mary Jane (Hoare) Liebich, and a sister of Elizabeth Jane Liebich who married Thomas Paynter. She married Francis Telfer Paynter at the Primitive Methodist Church, Yongala, on 17 August 1885, and they had at least four children born between 1885 and 1891. She died on 7 September 1894 at the age of 25, of diabetes, in the Quorn district. A family notice in The Advertiser (Adelaide) on 21 September 1894 read: "PAYNTER — On the 7th September, at Quorn, of diabetes, Ellen Jane, beloved wife of Francis Paynter, and third loving daughter of Gustav and Mary Jane Liebich, of Mannanarie, aged 25 years. Gone home to rest." Her husband Francis died six years later at Port Pirie.
