Life Summary

Ivan Frank Lillecrapp was born on 4 June 1917, the tenth of ten children of Alfred Edward Lillecrapp (1869–1934) and Mary Bayes Farrow (1875–1938). He was the younger brother of Olive Mary Lillecrapp, whose marriage to Dr Cyril Thomas Piper carried this branch of the family forward in the vault.

During the Second World War he served in the Royal Australian Air Force as a Flying Officer with No. 467 Squadron, service number 429818. No. 467 Squadron was one of the RAAF's famous Lancaster heavy-bomber squadrons, flying from RAF Waddington in Bomber Command's main force. For his service he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross — gazetted in the London Gazette on 21 September 1945.

After the war he married Margaret Meave Burnett on 14 October 1946 in Adelaide. They had two daughters, Meredith Meave (b. 1949) and Petrea Bayes (b. 1951), both born at Jamestown in South Australia.

Ivan died on 27 May 1996 in Adelaide. His wife Margaret died just seven weeks later, on 17 July 1996.
