Life Summary

Kathryn Mavis Telfer was born on 23 July 1961 in Tumby Bay, a coastal town on the Eyre Peninsula of South Australia. She was the fifth child (and first daughter) of Murray John Telfer (1924–2009) and Shirley Edna (Parker) Telfer (1929–2017).

She lived with her family in Ungarra, a small farming community on the Eyre Peninsula approximately 35 km north-west of Tumby Bay.

Kathryn died at Tumby Bay Hospital on 22 August 1965 at the age of 4 years, just one month after her fourth birthday. Her death notice in the Port Lincoln Times (26 August 1965, p39) reads:

> "TELFER — On August 22, at Tumby Bay Hospital, Kathryn Mavis, loved daughter of Murray and Shirley Telfer, of Ungarra, loved sister of Daryll, John, Grantley and Timothy. Aged 4 years. In God's Care."

She is buried at Tumby Bay Cemetery, Plot E72, in the District Council of Tumby Bay, South Australia.

Cause of death: Pneumonia (confirmed by her brother Timothy Neil Telfer (1959–?), May 2026)
