Spouses

Joseph Farrow married twice:

  • Mary Ellen Bayes (1799–1867) — married 1848. Mary Ellen was previously married to Joseph Flavel (1797–1840) and arrived in South Australia on the vessel Prince George in 1838 with her first husband and children. She died 31 January 1867 at Hope Valley, aged 66, and was buried at Hope Valley Cemetery, City of Tea Tree Gully. Mary Ellen's daughter from her first marriage — Dinah Flavel (1821–1844) — married Francis Telfer (1809–1895) in 1841, connecting the Flavel and Telfer families.
  • Elizabeth Float Smith (1825–1914) — married 1870. Elizabeth was previously married to John Philip Smith (died 1864 at Armagh, SA). She died 5 May 1914 (aged 88–89) and was buried at Cheltenham Pioneer Cemetery, Victoria. Her occupation was listed as Home Duties and her residence as Melbourne Benevolent Asylum.
  • Known Children

Joseph Farrow is confirmed as the father of Charles Farrow (1836–1884), who married Elizabeth Hannah Telfer (1836–1916), daughter of Francis Telfer (1809–1895) by Jean Murray (1810–1839). Charles was born ~1836 — twelve years before Joseph married Mary Ellen Bayes in 1848 — so Charles's mother was likely a prior wife of Joseph (unknown).

Further children may exist and require verification.
