Terms of Use

The simple rules for using this site

By using the Telfer Wiki you agree to these terms. They're intentionally short and written in plain language — there are no hidden clauses. If anything here is unclear, just ask.

What You Can Do

  • Browse freely. All the information on this site is here for you to read and explore — no account, no sign-up, no cost.
  • Share links. Feel free to share pages with family and friends.
  • Print and save. You're welcome to print pages or save them for your own family records.

Copyright and Reuse

The text, photographs, and research on this site are the work of the family and its contributors, and are protected by copyright. The underlying genealogical facts (names, dates, places) are historical record, but our photos, writing, and research notes are ours.

If you'd like to reuse a photo, quote a story, or use our written material in a book, article, or website, that's usually fine — just ask us first. For personal family use, you generally don't need to ask; for anything public or published, please get in touch.

Sourced From Public Records

Family history is assembled from public records — birth, marriage and death certificates, census returns, newspapers, immigration and church records, reunion booklets, and family-provided documents. We combine and cross-check these sources, but genealogical research is never perfect.

We aim for accuracy and we verify as much as we can, but we can't guarantee that every detail is error-free. If you find something wrong, please let us know so we can fix it.

Respect for Living Relatives

Living family members are treated with care: only the facts needed to hold the tree together are published, and some pages are kept out of search results. Please treat living relatives' information — and the people themselves — with the same respect when you share this site.

No Warranty, No Liability

This site is provided "as is" for family and general historical interest. We do our best to keep it accurate and available, but we accept no liability for any errors or omissions, or for any use you make of the information.

Governing Law

This site is run from Australia, and these terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
