Family Stories

Susan was the third child of John and Martha Telfer, born on 9 June 1871. She married Robert Agnew, a farmer, and they made their home first at Millicent and later at Glencoe in the South East of South Australia. Robert served on the Mt. Muirhead School Board of Advice alongside Adam Telfer. Together they raised a large family of eight children — two sons, Keith and Gilbert, and six daughters, Myrna, Gladys, Doreen, Thelma, Marjorie and Betty.

Susan lived to 81 years of age and died on 29 July 1952 at the home of her eldest daughter Myrna (Mrs. Arthur Goodes) at Glencoe West. Her descendants carried the Telfer line into the next generation across the South East and beyond.
