Life Summary

Robert Dunlop Lawrie was born at Craigman, New Cumnock, Ayrshire, Scotland on 23 May 1850, the son of John Lawrie (1810–1888) and Janet Dunlop (?–1902). His father farmed at Craigman before emigrating to South Australia in 1853 aboard the Ann Dashwood, arriving in Melbourne on 10 November 1853. Robert was approximately 3 years old at the time of emigration.

The family settled at Myponga Hills above Willunga, SA. Robert later farmed at "Bleak Farm," Long Plains, South Australia.

He married Caroline Hosking on 3 July 1879 at the Church of Christ, Alma, South Australia. They had nine children together.

He died on 26 November 1917 at Long Plains, South Australia.
