Life Summary

William Henry Parker was born on 13 April 1893 at Long Plains, South Australia, the seventh child and third son of Scottish-born William Humphrey Parker (1850–1926) and Hannah Baker (1855–1948). His father had migrated from Mossblown, Ayrshire, Scotland, to South Australia. His older sister Sophia Parker (1886–1918) married into the Lawrie family (Frank Lindsay Lawrie), creating a double connection between the Parker and Lawrie families.

William married Caroline Edna Lawrie on 29 March 1917 at the residence of R. D. Lawrie, Long Plains, solemnised by Pastor Ross Goodwin. They had five children: Avis (b. 1918), Howard (b. 1920), Sydney Hugh (b. 1922), William Humphrey (b. 1926), and Shirley Edna (b. 1929).

He was a farmer at Long Plains for most of his life. He died on 16 December 1968 near Owen, South Australia, aged 75, and was buried at Shannon Cemetery (Calomba Methodist Cemetery), SA, alongside his wife Caroline Edna (who predeceased him in 1957).
