Family Stories

🖊️ Anecdote — as told in From the Borders to the Bush (book pp. 268–269, 325–327): Herb was the travelling one. He went out and managed a big sheep station up at Truro — dry, open, woolshed country where a man had to know his sheep and his water — and he cut a solid, quiet figure in charge there. Later he moved right over to Western Australia and settled at Greenmount, and it was Herb's place that took in his sister Effie after her stroke, and gave her a home for her last years. He was the brother who was there when the family needed a steady hand, on a station and in a house. He died in 1974, the last of the Edgerston sons to leave us.
