Life Summary

Julia Matilda Seebohm was born on 18 October 1876 at Tantanoola, South Australia, the tenth of eleven children of German immigrant Wilhelm Seebohm and Scottish-born Mary Anne McIntyre. Her father Wilhelm emigrated from Altona, near Hamburg, Germany; her mother Mary was from Glasgow, Scotland.

On 9 July 1902, Julia married Mark Telfer (1877–1946) at the Public Hall, Tantanoola. The marriage was recorded in the local newspaper as uniting "Mr. Mark Telfer, son of Mr. John Telfer, to Miss Matilda Seebohm, daughter of Mr. W. Seebohm." Julia was known in the family as Matilda or Tilly.

She and Mark raised four children at Tantanoola and North Millicent: Floris, Kenneth, Melvin, and adopted son Murray. The family lived in the Tantanoola area, a small farming community in the Wattle Range Council region of South Australia's South East.

Julia died on 26 April 1939 and was buried at Tantanoola Cemetery. She predeceased her husband Mark, who died in 1946; his death notice in The Advertiser referred to him as "beloved husband of the late Julia Matilda Telfer."
