Maifie Beryl Telfer was born in 1913, the sixth child of Mark Telfer (1877–1946) and Julia Matilda Seebohm (1876–1939) of Tantanoola, South Australia.

She died relatively young in 1948, aged about 35.

Family Stories

Maifie Beryl Telfer was the sixth child of Mark Telfer and Julia Matilda Seebohm, born in 1913 at Tantanoola. She attended Tantanoola School and was awarded her Qualifying Certificate in 1926, having won a scholarship. She was a foundation member of the Tantanoola Women's Agricultural Bureau, reflecting her active involvement in the local community. When her father retired and moved to Millicent, Maifie left the farm and lived with him, keeping him company in his later years. She died on 1 August 1948 at the early age of 34 and is buried in Tantanoola Cemetery.
