Biography

Martha Williams was baptised 21st September 1814 at Moreton Pinkney, Northamptonshire, England, daughter of John Williams. She married Charles Masters on 6th August 1835 at Aston le Walls, Northamptonshire.

She emigrated to South Australia with her family on the Templar, arriving 24 November 1845. The family farmed at Flaxman's Valley, Angaston. After Charles's death in 1866, Martha (with her children's help) carried on the farm.

Martha died 18th February 1896 at Clare, South Australia, aged 81.

Family

Charles and Martha had thirteen children (see Relationships). Daughter Caroline Amelia Masters married John Telfer on 22nd September 1874 at Tarlee — she became the matriarch of the Willow Plains Telfers (Great-great-grandmother).
